Job summary

FamilyCare in Barboursville, WV seeks a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join the behavioral health department. The role reports to the Clinical Director and is exempt, full-time.

The APRN should hold WV RN licensure with PMHNP-BC and may already have Prescriptive Authority. Expect collaborative practice within a team and opportunities for teaching and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Active West Virginia RN license and APRN status required.
• PMHNP-BC certification preferred or must be eligible.
• Prescriptive Authority may be required or obtained.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide mental health care.
• Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments and interpret tests.
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate pharmacologic/non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Educate patients and support self-care with follow-up evaluations.
• Document promptly according to FamilyCare policy.
• Consult with other providers and behavioral health therapists as needed.
• Collaborate with or refer to colleagues for complex cases.
• Participate in teaching, research, and quality improvement activities.
• Attend clinical and staff meetings and maintain safety standards.
• Demonstrate positive customer service and coworker relations.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, and reach. The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Qualifications:

Registered nurse with a valid West Virginia license and recognized by the WV Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). If eligible, holds Prescriptive Authority through the WV Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses.PMHNP-BC

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive mental health care services.
• Perform comprehensive Psychiatric assessment. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Formulate diagnosis and develop a treatment plan, including ordering and/or administering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Facilitate patient education and participation in self-care. Implement systematic follow-up and evaluation of client status.
• Complete all appropriate documentation promptly according to FamilyCare Policy.
• Consult with, collaborate with or refer to other medical providers and behavioral health therapists as appropriate.
• Participate in research, educational activities, and the teaching of students, if interested.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
• Attend clinical and staff meetings.
• Observe all health and safety requirements.
• Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations.
• Participate in the continuous quality improvement activities of the organization.
