Job summary

FamilyCare Health Centers in Charleston, WV is hiring a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at our Cross Lanes site to cover pediatric walk-ins with evening and weekend hours. The position can be full time or part time with flexible scheduling to accommodate families and staff.

The NP will provide a full range of primary care for infants through adolescents, perform exams, order tests, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with valid West Virginia license and recognized by the WV Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
• If eligible, holds Prescriptive Authority through the WV Board of Examiners for Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive primary health care services.
• Perform assessment, including comprehensive physical exam and age-appropriate screening procedures; order and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Develop treatment plans and implement pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions; educate patients and support self-care.
• Document all care timely according to FamilyCare Policy.
• Collaborate with or refer to other medical providers as appropriate.
• Share after-hours telephone coverage with other FamilyCare providers.
• Participate in research, education and teaching of students if interested.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills; attend clinical and staff meetings; observe health and safety requirements.
• Provide cost-aware care and maintain positive coworker relations.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop and reach. The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more. Basic Function:

Responsible for the provision of a full range of primary care health services, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness in pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence, preventive and well child care. Nurse Practitioners are expected to manage all patients and conditions within the scope of their training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive primary health care services.
• Perform assessment, including comprehensive physical exam and age-appropriate screening procedures. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Perform waived and microscopy laboratory testing as indicated. Formulate diagnosis and develop treatment plan, including ordering and/or administering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Facilitate patient education and participation in self-care. Implement systematic follow-up and evaluation of client status.
• Complete all appropriate documentation in a timely manner according to FamilyCare Policy.
• Consult with, collaborate with or refer to other medical providers as appropriate.
• Share after-hours telephone coverage with other FamilyCare providers.
