Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis is seeking a Psychiatric Associate for the Child and Adolescent Intensive Treatment Center on the Riverside unit. The role supports children and adolescents aged 4-18, with therapies including OT and TR within a rigorous safety framework.

The position is 64 hours every two weeks on the night shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with every other weekend, a variable schedule, and SEIU benefit eligibility.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association, Red Cross)

Responsibilities

• Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting safety checks.
• Performs safety checks of patients and conducts room searches.
• Responds to de-escalation and may assist with physical intervention as trained.
• Participates in milieu management with treatment team.
• Performs basic daily living activities per treatment plan.
• Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of mental health diagnoses and milieu management.
• Delivers educational programming with individuals or groups.
• Responds to emergencies per policy.
• Participates in the treatment team's mission and goals.
• Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Communicates professionally and timely.
• Keeps up-to-date on Behavioral Services policies.
• Provides light to medium ADL assistance (hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating, mobility).
• Assists with supplies, setup and patient direction for basic care routines.
• Provides mobility support as trained (e.g., gait belts, wheelchair assistance).

We at Fairview are looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location in Minneapolis!

On our Child and Adolescent Intensive Treatment Center unit, we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our dynamic team in providing mental health support for children and adolescents aged 4-18. We're committed to fostering therapeutic engagement through group activities, Occupational Therapy (OT), Therapeutic Recreation (TR), and other therapeutic groups to aid in our young patients' recovery journey. Whether they arrive subdued and depressed or in a state of decompensation and mania, we maintain strict safety guidelines to ensure their well-being. We also provide care to many children with autism and ASD. This can be an intense unit.

This role is approved for 64 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, working 8-hour shifts, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is SEIU benefit eligible.

The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the direction of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:
• Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
• Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
• Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
• Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan.
• Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of mental health diagnoses and therapeutic interactions and milieu management.
• Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
• Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
• Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans.
• Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
• Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
• Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
• ADLs & Physical Support
• Provide light to medium ADL assistance, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating and mobility support.
• Assist with supplies, setup, and patient direction regarding basic care routines.
• Provide mobility support appropriate to training (e.g., gait belts, wheelchair assistance).

Required Qualifications

• 2 years Experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting (NA, NST, PCA, behavioral tech, etc.) AND Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross)

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Health Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field.
• Experience in inpatient, ED, behavioral health, EMT/paramedic, emergency medical services or other related higher acuity settings such as a school, residential treatment facility, group home, etc.
