Fairview Health Services in Burnsville, MN is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Associate for the Emergency Department at Fairview Ridges Hospital. You will deliver patient care under RN supervision, contributing to a therapeutic environment on the unit.

This role involves safety checks, de-escalation, and participation in treatment planning, with light to moderate ADL support and attention to developmental and cultural needs.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting.
• Experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
• Respond to and participate in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Respond to emergency situations as trained per policy.
• Participate in the treatment team's mission, goals and plans.
• Provide light to medium ADL assistance including hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating and mobility support.
• Demonstrate ability to provide care reflecting developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Provide patient education based on assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver.

Job description

Fairview is looking for a compassionate Mental Health Associate to join our Emergency Department at Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN. The hospital is just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN near the 35E and 35 W conjunctions! It has been providing state-of-the art care and community services to the residents of the scenic Minnesota Valley since 1984.

The Mental Health Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.

This role is approved for 48 hours, evening shift, 3:00PM - 11:00PM, working 8 hour shifts and every other weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

Responsibilities

• Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
• Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
• Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
• Participates in the treatment team's mission, goals and plans
• Provide light to medium ADL assistance, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating and mobility support.
• Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
• Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting (NST, PCS, behavioral tech, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Preferred Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Health Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field
• Experience in inpatient or ED behavioral health or related higher acuity settings such as a school, residential treatment facility, group home, etc.
