Psychiatric, Advanced Practiced Nurse (APN)

Visions and Pathways has an immediate opening for an experienced Psychiatric Advanced Practiced Nurse 10 hours per week (Part-Time: 1 to 2 days a week) to provide psychiatric services to children, teenagers, and adults. The individual will manage health problems and coordinate health care of youth, provide staff and patient education, and work collaboratively with other members of Visions and Pathways to provide care to residents.

Position Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing
• NJ State License as a Registered Nurse
• NJ State Certificate as an Advanced Practice Nurse
• NJ CDS and DEA Registration
• National Certification for Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner in Mental Health

Position Summary

• Periodically perform psychiatric evaluations and render diagnosis in accordance with standard medical practice.
• Evaluate the need for medications and prescribe in accordance with collaborative agreement and laws of State of New Jersey.
• Perform medication monitoring, education and counseling services and psychiatric re‑evaluations for assigned client caseload.
• Help assess bio‑psycho‑social status of psychiatric clients who are in current caseload or assigned for psychiatric intake evaluation.
• Order and review routine lab tests, toxicity/medication levels.
• Establish a collaborative relationship with the collaborating psychiatrist and other staff in managing the care of clients at V&P.
• Maintains V&P documentation standards.
• Reviews Health Questionnaires and Treatment plans.

To Qualify

Individuals must have the ability to maintain credentials and demonstrate understanding of the diagnosis; pertinent medical findings; rationale/goals of treatment; and medical interventions for patients through practice and written documentation will be expected. Superior oral/written communication, presentation, organizational and leadership skills required. Experience working with children and young adults with behavioral issues highly desired.
