Northwell Health’s Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT, seeks a Mental Health Worker to provide direct and indirect patient care under RN or physician supervision in the psychiatric unit.

The role supports activities of daily living, comfort, safety and emotional well‑being, with duties including patient rounding and basic care. Evening/night shifts, 36 hours/week at 0.9 FTE, salary range $18.00–$28.47 hourly.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate.
• One (1) year prior experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. Preferred past experience as a nurse’s aide.
• BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
• CT, MA or NY CNA Certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of patient, including pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
• Assists with patient admissions, discharge and transfers.
• Provides morning care including bed bath, shower, oral hygiene, dressing patients, changing bed linen and tidying room.
• Provides evening care including hand/face washing, oral hygiene and linen changes.
• Positioning patients, lifting and turning, assistance with bedpan/commode and ambulation.
• Prepares patients for meals and assists with feeding if necessary.
• Distributes water and snacks; responds to call lights and rounds patients.
• Takes vitals and reports variations; observes mental/physical changes to supervising RN.
