Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to administer medications and provide patient-centered care in a structured clinical setting. The role emphasizes safety, rights and the therapeutic environment, with responsibilities to observe and report on resident behavior and health status.

The position includes shift work, documentation duties, and participation in staff training. A valid driver’s license and HS diploma are required, with potential for enhanced pay on selected shifts.

Qualifications

• Mental health experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a verifiable High School diploma/G.E.D.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication and monitor for side effects.
• Provide care that respects patient rights, safety, comfort and environment.
• Observe, document and report resident behavior.
• Monitor weights, blood pressure, pulse and respiration per MD orders and monthly.
• Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to support patient care.
• Fill in resident charts.
• Assist in orientation and training of new staff; implement Merakey policies.
• Order refills of medications.
• Act as lead staff when the Administrator or Asst. Administrator is not available.
• Complete all other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Position Details

The Psychiatric Technician will:

• administer medication and therapeutic treatments, monitor for potential side effects and report
• provide care in a manner that considers the patient's rights, safety, comfort and the overall therapeutic environment
• observe, document and report resident behavior
• monitor and document weights, blood pressure, pulse and respiration per MD orders and monthly for all residents
• communicate with co-workers and supervisors in a timely manner that affects patient care or well-being
• fillin resident charts
• assist in orientation and training of new staff members, understand, and implement Merakey policies and procedures
• order refills of medications,
• act as lead staff when the Administrator or Asst. Administrator is not available.
• complete all other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

PAY: Earn $18.50 an hour with the selection of enhanced pay.

SHIFT: 2nd shift- 3pm-11pm and every other weekend.
