Job summary

Universal Health Services’ Central Florida Behavioral Hospital in Orlando is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver psychiatric nursing care across child, adolescent, geriatric and adult populations within a 174-bed facility.

Responsibilities include assessments, care planning, administering medications, milieu management and crisis intervention, with day shift hours 7 AM–7 PM and rotating weekends. Florida RN license and CPR are required; BSN preferred and Level 2 background check.

Qualifications

Background investigation required (Level 2).
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current Florida RN license is required.
Minimum 1 year of related experience; psychiatric nursing preferred.
Current CPR Certification required.
Hours: Day Shift 7 AM–7 PM with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to licensed staff; direct milieu management.
Assess patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
Contribute to an interdisciplinary treatment plan.
Document nursing care and patient responses to treatment.
Recognize symptoms of mental health and chemical dependency disorders and apply appropriate interventions.

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults; and partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include: assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician; to ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors. Direct milieu management.
Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
Document nursing care, treatment, and patient’s response to treatment
Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.
