Job summary

Riverside Health System in Hampton, Virginia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work under the supervision of the RN, delivering patient care and participating in the plan of care.

In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. The LPN may work in a variety of settings and roles within Riverside Health System. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.What you will doUnder the supervision of the RN, partners with patients and families to implement plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient. Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of plan of care.Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures.Demonstrates effective nursing skills (vitals, blood sugars, administering treatments and medications) in completing task accurately and efficiently. Follows protocols and physician orders. Able to perform phlebotomy.Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify educational approach to ensure patient/family comprehension.
