Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Assessment – Assesses patients, clients and families and recognizes normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status as it relates to cardio‑pulmonary needs using a family‑centered approach to care, plans and prioritizes care to meet patient, client and family needs, collects clinical data, utilizes decision trees and guidelines, and matches formal knowledge with clinical events to make appropriate decisions during sleep study testing.
  • Documentation – Demonstrates compliance with established documentation practices, records routine observations, changes in procedure and significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnography results, provides thorough documentation during data collection with real‑time comments and narrative notes, and follows procedures to establish baseline values such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, end tidal carbon dioxide, respiratory and heart rates.
  • Clinical Judgment – Demonstrates competence in implementing technical skills required for patient, client and family care according to CCHMC policies, procedures and standards, identifies goals and outcomes for health, directs interventions toward those goals, evaluates effectiveness of care, and demonstrates critical thinking when making appropriate care decisions and relating that information to the health‑care team.
  • Systems Thinking – Recognizes systems and processes within the healthcare environment that affect the patient experience, anticipates needs of patients and families, utilizes alternative resources when necessary, sustains regulatory knowledge, supports leadership in meeting regulatory compliance, monitors safety and departmental policies, ensures certifications and safety college requirements are fulfilled, and coordinates respiratory care delivery as a lead.
  • Plan of Care – Implements required technical skills per CCHMC policies and procedures, sets goals and outcomes for health, directs interventions, evaluates effectiveness, demonstrates critical thinking, and maintains documentation compliance.
