This is a significant opportunity for an accomplished academic leader to join a public R2 research university with strong momentum and genuine latitude to lead. The next Provost will help strengthen faculty success and shared governance, advance research and graduate education, modernize the academic portfolio, expand the University's reach in Dallas and across extended sites, and align academic programs with student and workforce needs.

About the Institution

East Texas A&M University is a public R2 research university and proud member of The Texas A&M University System. Based in Commerce, Texas, approximately 60 miles northeast of Dallas, the University serves nearly 13,000 students through a broad academic enterprise that includes six academic colleges, the Graduate School, Honors College, and Dallas and extended-site operations. East Texas A&M offers more than 140 academic degree programs and is advancing its research profile, student-success agenda, and regional impact.

  • Provide vision and leadership for the academic enterprise, including the academic colleges, Graduate School, Honors College, Dallas and extended sites, vice provost leadership, and academic support functions.

  • Lead strategic review and management of the academic portfolio, including program development, expansion, redesign, consolidation, and discontinuation based on student demand, workforce needs, quality, mission, and financial sustainability.

  • Advance faculty excellence, teaching, scholarship, research, and creative activity while fostering academic freedom, shared governance, professional development, and a visible, collaborative academic culture.

  • Partner closely with Research and Economic Development, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs to strengthen research capacity, graduate and doctoral education, recruitment, retention, persistence, progression, and completion.

  • Lead academic planning, budgeting, institutional effectiveness, and external partnerships while representing East Texas A&M across The Texas A&M University System and at the state and national levels.
