Summary

East Texas A&M University, a Doctoral University classified as R2: High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification, invites applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor position in Curriculum and Instruction to begin August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service missions. We seek a scholar who demonstrates potential for impactful research, effective and comprehensive teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession. Duties & Responsibilities

Research

• Develop and sustain a productive program of research/creative activity leading to peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other scholarly contributions.
• Seek external funding to support research as appropriate to the discipline.
• Direct and serve on doctoral dissertation committees.
• Mentor and engage both graduate and undergraduate students in research.

Teaching

• Teach 5-6 courses per academic year across undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Contribute to the department’s core curriculum and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in area(s) of expertise.
• Supervise and mentor doctoral students, including guidance on dissertations, and other graduate research projects.
• Demonstrate commitment to effective, comprehensive, and innovative pedagogy.
• Delivery of instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday.

Service

• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and governance.
• Contribute to the professional community through activities such as reviewing, conference participation, and organizational service.
• Engage in outreach or community engagement consistent with the mission of the university (if applicable).

Minimum Requirements

• Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in Curriculum and Instruction or other very closely related discipline including bilingual education, early childhood education, Reading, and Secondary Education by time of appointment.
• Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity in research/creative activity.
• Evidence of effective teaching or teaching potential at the university level, including graduate-level instruction.

Preferred Education / Skills / Experience

• Ph.D. (or terminal degree) in Bilingual education
• Record of peer-reviewed publications or other scholarly outputs.
• Experience with grant writing or external funding.
• Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research/creative activity.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum development in Curriculum and Instruction.
