Job summary

East Texas A&M University is seeking a Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs to serve as chief academic officer and second-ranking strategic partner. The Provost will guide the academic enterprise, strengthen graduate education, and align programs with workforce needs across Dallas and extended sites.

The successful candidate will lead academic planning, budgeting, and external partnerships, while advancing faculty excellence and shared governance across the institution.

Qualifications

• An earned doctorate.
• Ten years of senior-level leadership experience.
• A record of teaching and scholarship that justifies appointment as a tenured full professor, with administrative leadership experience.
• Understanding of graduate education and excellence in research.
• Ability to build strong internal and external relationships and communicate with varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision and leadership for the academic enterprise, including the academic colleges, Graduate School, Honors College, Dallas and extended sites, and academic support functions.
• Lead strategic review and management of the academic portfolio, including program development, expansion, redesign, consolidation, and discontinuation based on student demand and workforce needs.
• Advance faculty excellence, teaching, scholarship, research, and creative activity while fostering academic freedom and shared governance.
• Partner with Research and Economic Development, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs to strengthen research capacity and graduate education.
• Lead academic planning, budgeting, institutional effectiveness, and external partnerships while representing the university.
