Job summary

Prisma Health Independence Pointe seeks a skilled Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to ensure all provider services are accurately coded per CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS guidelines. You will support providers and staff with periodic coding reviews, education, and training sessions to enhance charge capture and documentation quality.

Responsibilities include reviewing physician charges, answering coding questions, and maintaining compliance with coding regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or related field.
• 3+ years billing and/or coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Educates providers and coding staff on proper CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding.
• Performs random reviews of physician charges to identify opportunities for charge capture and ICD-10 specificity.
• Reviews and responds to coding questions submitted by physicians and coding staff.
• Shadows provider and coding staff to confirm coding is supported by documentation and improve coding.
• Maintains knowledge of state and federal regulatory guidelines related to proper coding.
• Coordinates education sessions and provides instruction for PMCC Coding Curriculum offered by the AAPC.
