Job summary

MW Components in Corona, CA seeks a Prototype Tooling Machinist/Machinist II for first shift. This on-site role pays $30 USD per hour and supports production tooling projects across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities include setting up and operating manual milling machines, lathes and grinders, reading blueprints, inspecting parts, and maintaining accurate records. A minimum of 5 years in prototype tooling and strong accuracy with precision measuring tools are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of prototype and tolling experience or evidence of mastery.
• Proficiency with machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong understanding of materials.
• Technical/vocational training in machining.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
• Operate conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
• Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to create production tooling.
• Complete set-ups and operate equipment with minimal supervision/assistance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for efficient and accurate machining.
• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring devices.
• Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and meet quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, material inconsistencies, and programming errors.
• Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.
• Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements.
• Other duties may be added if necessary to meet business needs
