Job summary

Promega in Madison, WI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op student for January 2027 through late summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience by supporting engineering and assisting in building and testing prototype products.

Responsibilities include writing and executing equipment testing documents, creating test fixtures, drafting engineering drawings under supervision, and building prototypes while collaborating with production on assembly instructions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 1 year of coursework.
• Strong willingness to learn and contribute.
• Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter who can handle changing priorities.
• CAD experience (AutoCAD) preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital tools; familiar with emerging tech to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Write and execute equipment testing documents for new mechanical systems.
• Create and fabricate test fixtures.
• Create engineering drawings under the supervision of hardware engineer.
• Build prototypes and create bills of materials; work with production on assembly instructions.
• Demonstrates safety awareness and aligns with Promega's ESQI principles.
• Understand and comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements.
