Job summary

Pro-Active Engineering, Inc. in Sun Prairie, WI is seeking a Design Engineering Intern (Electrical) for Summer 2027. You will join a hands-on team to develop, test, and document electronic products, test fixtures, and product improvements.

The role provides exposure to schematic design, PCB development, prototyping, BOMs, and design data in Altium Designer or KiCad, with collaboration across mechanical, manufacturing, process, and quality teams to meet manufacturability and reliability goals.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Familiar with schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium Designer, KiCad, Eagle or similar).
• Understanding of electronics fundamentals including analog and digital circuits.
• Experience with lab equipment and hands-on prototyping.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with schematic design, circuit analysis, simulation, and PCB layout.
• Support component research, evaluation, selection, and qualification.
• Create and maintain BOMs, drawings, and specifications.
• Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and debug prototypes.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, process, and quality teams.
• Support DFx reviews and ECOs.
• Develop and validate test procedures and reports.
• Participate in design reviews and project meetings.
