Job summary

Northrop Grumman Spacecraft Components in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to support fabrication, assembly and testing of mechanical components for complex assemblies. You will work with engineers on set-up, calibration, rework and quality testing, and use data programs to adjust processes.

The role requires US citizenship, a high school diploma or GED with additional education/experience, ability to read English instructions, lift up to 40 pounds, and flexibility for shifts.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of additional education or related experience.
• Ability to read, write and work to English instructions.
• Ability to lift/pull/push up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods and be on the feet for varying hours.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with hand tool techniques and safety.
• Familiarity with torque concepts.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of duties relating to fabrication or assembly of mechanical components for larger assemblies.
• Sets up and tests prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions; analyzes data and suggests modifications.
• Assists engineers in developing mechanical designs and tests, fabrication of assemblies and components.
• Performs manufacturing operations including set-up, calibration, rework and quality testing of parts and assemblies.
• Uses data programs to collect and evaluate operating data for on-line adjustments.
• Develops methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
• Handles and manages fragile composite materials.
• Notates usage, traceability, pot life and out time controls on adhesive materials.
• Reports data and interfaces with other departments.
• Reads and understands manufacturing/engineering drawings.
• Maintains shop appearance and cleanliness
