Job summary

Teradyne seeks a Prototype Assembler to join the New Product Introduction Pilot Line in North Reading, MA. You will support Engineering in product development by inspecting, assembling, repairing, and reworking prototype PCBA hardware in an ISO 9001/14001 environment.

You will perform BGA rework, advanced soldering, SMT and through-hole soldering, and use CAD tools to trace paths. On-site role with IPC standards experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; electronics training preferred.
• Minimum five years of hands-on PCB rework, repair, or electronics assembly in manufacturing.
• Five years of experience with BGA rework and advanced soldering techniques.
• Experience with SMT and through-hole soldering; proficient with hand soldering irons and hot-air tools.
• Experience operating X-ray inspection systems; CAD tools such as Cadence or Altium.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and engineering docs; ISO 9001/14001 knowledge.
• On-site work at North Reading, MA facility; IPC-610 and IPC-7711/7721 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute quality control inspections of PCBA hardware per IPC standards.
• Perform component replacement, rework, and board repair with advanced soldering.
• Operate SMT rework equipment and create profiles for new package types.
• Use soldering irons and hot-air tools for 0201 components and through-hole devices.
• Conduct visual and X-ray inspection to verify solder-joint quality.
• Perform PCBA cleaning including wash and bake procedures.
• Support engineering changes and assembly of Teradyne instruments.
• Trace circuit paths with PCB viewer and CAD tools; maintain documentation.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001/14001 quality and environmental systems.
