Job summary

Teradyne is seeking a Prototype Assembler to join our New Product Introduction Pilot Line team in North Reading, Massachusetts. You will support Engineering in product development by performing inspection, assembly, repair, and rework of prototype PCBA hardware in compliance with IPC standards and ISO 9001/14001.

Responsibilities include quality inspections, advanced soldering, BGA rework, 0201 components, X-ray verification, and documentation in a controlled environment; on-site at our MA

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/electronics training preferred.
• At least five years hands-on PCB rework/repair in manufacturing.
• Five+ years experience with BGA rework and advanced soldering techniques.
• SMT and through-hole soldering experience.
• Proficiency with hand soldering irons and hot-air rework tools.
• Experience operating X-ray inspection systems.
• Familiarity with PCB viewer or CAD software (Cadence/Altium).
• Ability to read schematics and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001; Windows; Office; Acrobat.
• On-site at North Reading, MA facility.
• IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 preferred.
• Experience supporting NPI in ATE, semiconductor test, instrumentation, or hardware manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Execute quality control inspections of PCBA hardware per IPC standards.
• Perform component replacement, rework, and board/pad repair using advanced soldering.
• Operate SMT rework equipment for complex replacement including BGA rework and new package profiles.
• Use soldering irons and hot-air rework tools for 0201 and through-hole components.
• Conduct visual and X-ray inspection to verify solder-joint quality.
• Perform PCBA cleaning including wash and bake procedures.
• Support new-product hardware updates and engineering changes; assemble Teradyne instruments.
• Use PCB viewer and CAD tools to trace circuits and analyze board layers.
• Maintain documentation per quality-system requirements; work within ISO 9001/14001.
