Job summary

Teradyne's Semiconductor Test Division is seeking a Process Engineer to influence PCBA development from concept to volume release, applying Design for Manufacturability principles and EC/DFM best practices.

You will collaborate with Hardware Design, drive PCB assembly improvements, perform failure analysis, and support NPI activities with contract manufacturers. Local candidates in North Reading, MA preferred; travel ~10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Manufacturing or Mechanical preferred.
• 5+ years in printed circuit board assembly and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of PCBA processes (paste printing, SMT, reflow, cleaning, automated inspection, ESD).
• Familiarity with IPC-610, IPC-7711/7721, J-STD.
• Experience with Cadence Allegro, Valor; EMS/CM collaboration desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Hardware Design on New Product initiatives, influencing PCB Assembly with DFM principles.
• Drive failure analysis for electrical components and PCBA solder defects.
• Develop and support PCBA Design for Manufacturability guidelines and assembly best practices; update NPI process docs.
• Support Operations NPI objectives by executing component assessment and process development for PCBA.
• Work with contract manufacturers to support initial PCBA builds, experiments and failure analysis.
• Lead NPI Lessons Learned by integrating feedback from high-volume manufacturing into NPI processes.
