Job summary

gpac, a growing manufacturer in Michigan, seeks a skilled Mold Maker to build tools, dies, and prototype molds, working closely with programmers daily. Injection molding experience is highly desirable, especially in plastics or medical device manufacturing.

Responsibilities include planning tool and die build sequences from blueprints, fitting and assembling gauges with hand tools, and producing samples to customer specs while coordinating with programmers to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Broad machining knowledge and blueprint reading
• Understanding of how common metals and alloys machine (hardness, heat tolerance)
• Mechanical aptitude and independent problem solving
• High school or vocational education with math, blueprint reading, metalworking, or drafting
• Injection molding machine experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan the sequence of operations for building tools and dies from blueprints
• Fit and assemble gauges and metal-forming equipment with hand tools
• Build prototype molds from aluminum, bronze, and other materials
• Complete dies by promised dates and produce samples to customer specs
• Coordinate daily with programmers to finish projects
