Job summary

Victaulic seeks an experienced machinist to join its Corporate Engineering R&D Lab. You will set up and operate a range of machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, grinders, and drills, fabricating high-quality prototypes to meet project timelines. Expect to use 3-D models, perform bench work, and test fixtures as needed.

You will contribute to fixture design, maintain equipment, and ensure dimensional accuracy while adhering to safety policies. Travel may be required in this role.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Proficient in blueprint reading, assembly drawings, shop math, geometry, and use of precision measuring instruments.
• Proficient in bench work including drilling, tapping, filing, assembly, and inspection of components for form, fit, and function.
• Minimum of eight years of machine shop or related experience.
• Ability to set up, operate, and maintain all Lab machine tools in a proper and safe operating manner.
• The ability to operate or adapt to the use of CNC controlled machine tools including programming, set-up, and proper operating parameters required to safely operate this equipment.
• MasterCam experience preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate milling machines and machining centers (manual and CNC).
• Machine prototype components from 3-D model files supplied by Engineering Design.
• Design, machine, and test prototypes and fixtures when standard methods do not apply.
• Machine components to blueprints within specified tolerance requirements.
• Maintain and repair machine tools, equipment, and work area to ensure a proper environment.
• Follow written or verbal instructions and participate in quality improvement programs.
• Travel as required.
