Job summary

Rivian Irvine, CA seeks a design-focused engineer for the Special Projects Team to create show cars and non-production assets. You’ll turn sketches into tangible parts, iterate rapidly, and balance design, fabrication, and assembly constraints to deliver high-quality prototypes.

You will apply CATIA for 3D designs and 2D drawings, work closely with fabrication and production teams, and travel to other offices as needed to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Understanding of vehicle systems and how prototypes translate to production concepts.
• Hands-on approach to component/builds, diagnostics and repair.
• Ability to assess complex problems in unfamiliar systems and make rapid tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Design components for show cars, marketing vehicles and other non-production assets.
• Support vehicle builds from design through release, fabrication, assembly and field usage.
• Engineer components to speed production design and early build timelines while demonstrating production concepts.
• Use CATIA to design structures, parts, brackets and generate 2D drawings.
• Identify when to incorporate off-the-shelf content based on timeline and function.
• Collaborate with production engineers, purchasers and suppliers to deliver on time.
