Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Machinist to support the Prototyping Integration Facility (PIF) at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. You will work in the Fabrication and Integration Branch, setting up and operating CNC machines and reading engineering drawings to build prototypes for C5ISR systems.

The role requires completing a four-year apprenticeship with journeyman experience and a high school diploma, plus the ability to obtain an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Completion of a four-year apprenticeship and journeyman machinist experience or eight years as a journeyman machinist.
• Experience with CNC machining equipment.
• Knowledge of CAM operation.
• Ability to obtain an Active Secret US Government Clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Support the Fabrication and Integration Branch.
• Set up and operate CNC/other machine tools in a prototype shop.
• Read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy with measuring instruments.
• Fabricate mechanisms and models to meet engineering requirements.
• Determine and set up tools, dies and fixtures for intricate machining.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
