Job summary

Textron is seeking an Experimental Mechanic for assembly and testing of experimental and prototype engines and components at the Williamsport, PA facility. You will set up engines and accessories for performance tests, install and maintain test facilities, and fabricate specialized equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic sheet metal and pipefitting knowledge, forklift license, and the ability to test engines or hold an FAA Powerplant (A&P) license.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic sheet metal knowledge expected.
  • Basic pipefitting knowledge expected.
  • Basic millwright knowledge required.
  • Forklift license required.
  • Ability to build an engine from Power Section to Mag and to test engines or hold FAA Powerplant (A&P) license.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools.
  • Welding training ability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly of experimental and prototype engines, components and auxiliaries.
  • Set-up and operate engines and accessories for performance and endurance tests.
  • Install, maintain and repair experimental equipment and test facilities.
  • Fabricate engine components such as mounts, baffles, tubing, brackets.
  • Measure engine parts and components.
  • Weld ferrous or light alloys.
  • Support accident investigations during engine teardown.
