Job summary

Cessna Aircraft Company is seeking an Experimental Mechanic to assemble experimental and prototype engines, components and auxiliaries, and to set up and operate engines for performance and endurance tests.

The role requires knowledge in sheet metal, pipefitting and millwright skills; an FAA Powerplant (A&P) license is preferred. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with strong measurement, welding readiness and safety documentation responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Basic sheet metal, pipefitting and millwright knowledge required.
• Ability to troubleshoot and measure engine parts and components.

Responsibilities

• Assemble experimental and prototype engines, components and auxiliaries.

Job Description - Experimental Mechanic (343881)

Assembly of experimental and prototype engines, components and auxiliaries.

Set-up and operation of experimental and prototype engines, components and accessories for performance and endurance tests.

Install, maintain and repair experimental _equipment and test facilities.

Fabricate special equipment, such as engine mounts, baffles, tubing, brackets, etc.

Measurement of engine parts, components and accessories.

Weld ferrous or light alloys.

Support of accident investigations during engine teardown.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties inherently required of the job classification.

Perform assigned work in a safety conscious manner.

Perform assigned work to specified quality and production standards.

Maintain equipment and tools used by the individual in a clean condition.

Perform assigned cleaning required to maintain individual's immediate work area in a clean condition.

• Prepare and/or maintain all documentation necessary to the duties of the job classification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED

Basic Sheet Metal Knowledge

Basic Pipefitting Knowledge

Basic Millwright Knowledge

Possess the ability to build a complete engine from Power Section to Mag and demonstrate the ability to test engines; Or an FAA Powerplant (A&P) License

Basic Troubleshooting Skills

Ability to use basic measuring tools

Ability to be trained to weld
