Job summary

Insight Manufacturing S in Murphys, CA is seeking an experienced CNC Prototype Machinist to join our machine shop team. Under general supervision, you will develop, write, and edit CNC programs to shape precision metal parts and prototype components.

You will set up and operate CNC and manual machines, read blueprints and CAD data, and work with engineers to refine designs for manufacturability and accuracy in prototype and low-volume production.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of combined CNC programming and machining experience.
• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in manufacturing technology.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and GD&T.
• Experience in prototype or low-volume environments.
• NIMS or equivalent credentials desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze orders and CAD data to determine operations and dimensions.
• Write, test, and revise CNC programs.
• Set up tooling, fixtures, and cutting parameters.
• Operate CNC and manual machines to fabricate prototype and production components.
• Review blueprints and CAD models to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances with precision instruments.
• Inspect finished parts for quality using precision tools.
• Prepare setup sheets and process notes for repeatability.
• Collaborate with engineers and machinists to optimize manufacturability.
• Maintain knowledge of CNC controls and tooling.
• Train machinists and operators as needed.
