Job summary

The Allen Institute in Seattle is hiring a Research Associate I for the Brain Proteome Organization. The role focuses on proteome profiling of neuronal populations and synapses, contributing to scalable workflows and large datasets under multidisciplinary collaboration.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and hands-on experience in molecular biology, proteomics, histology, and imaging. Onsite work with opportunities for limited remote work is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry or related field.
  • Experience in molecular biology or biochemistry, proteomics, tissue processing, histology, microscopy, flow cytometry, or related disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue dissections and biochemical preparation of mouse brain samples for molecular profiling and imaging workflows.
  • Execute experimental workflows for synapse isolation, fluorescence-based sorting, and proteomic sample preparation.
  • Execute histology, fluorescence imaging, and tissue processing workflows.
  • Support molecular biology and viral vector preparation workflows.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and experimental records.
  • Contribute to optimization, troubleshooting, and quality control of experimental workflows.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and core facilities to support large-scale data and sample generation.
  • Present results and summarize experimental progress within the team.
