Job summary

Integrated Resources, Inc ( IRI ) is seeking a Senior Research Associate to advance protein purification for drug discovery programs. You will purify recombinant cytosolic and secreted proteins, validate them with QC methods, and document findings as part of the Protein Sciences team.

The role emphasizes hands-on purification, protocol execution, troubleshooting, and clear communication within cross-disciplinary teams to support preclinical and clinical targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular & cellular biology, or biophysics with 4+ years experience, or MS with 2+ years experience
• Experience using AKTA purification platform and purification methods
• Experience in protein refolding from inclusion bodies
• Detail-oriented with ability to multitask and learn
• Foundational protein biochemistry knowledge and recombinant protein tagging
• Ability to follow detailed protocols and exercise scientific judgment
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize experiments
• Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills

Responsibilities

Job description

As a Senior Research Associate you will contribute to drug discovery efforts for multiple therapeutic areas including neurology, immunology and neuromuscular. You will perform laboratory activities with minimal to no supervision and contribute to the delivery of high-quality recombinant proteins for early discovery research and clinical stage programs. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise to the Protein Sciences team. This is an individual-contributor role suited to a scientist with a foundation in protein biochemistry and hands-on experience with protein purification.

You will contribute by:

• Purifying high quality recombinant cytosolic, secreted, and refold proteins from inclusion bodies and validating these proteins with quality control experiments such as HPLC and mass spectrometry.
• Execute experiments using established protocols and apply independent judgment to ongoing laboratory work.
• Support more complex experiments involving troubleshooting and optimization.
• Assist with general laboratory maintenance and operations.
• Document experimental work and results according to established standards.
• Communicate results to project representatives and discuss findings within the Protein Purification group.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree major in (biochemistry, chemistry, molecular & cellular biology, or biophysics) + 4 years or MS + 2 years’ relevant experience (having industry experience is plus but not required)
• Strong experience using AKTA purification platform and current knowledge of purification methods and protocols.
• Experience in protein refolding from inclusion bodies.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and enthusiasm for learning.
• Foundational understanding of protein biochemistry and knowledge of recombinant proteins and protein-tagging strategies.
• Ability to follow detailed experimental protocols while exercising sound scientific judgment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize laboratory experiments.
• Strong experimental documentation, reporting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of upstream and downstream processes such as molecular biology, cell culture and protein expression, structural biology and biophysics, and/or assay development.

Familiarity with drug discovery and how protein reagents fit into the process.
