Job summary

Old Colony Elder Services, Inc. in Brockton, MA is seeking a Protective Services Worker to investigate and substantiate allegations of abuse and neglect in the elder adult community.

The role supports independence and safety by developing protective plans and coordinating with authorities as required. You will promote the well-being of elders, assess risk, and ensure services are delivered in the most appropriate, least restrictive setting.

Qualifications

• Two years in human services, elder population and/or crisis intervention.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; licensure if appropriate.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote independent functioning of members in least restrictive environments.
• Conduct investigations and evaluate capacity, situation and resources of elders.
• Develop and implement protective services plans to alleviate risk and abuse.
• Refer serious abuse to District Attorney and determine protective orders as needed.
• Provide emergency Protective Services coverage during non-business hours.

To that end, OCES is looking for a dedicated Protective Services Worker (PSW) to work in our Protective Services department to investigate and substantiate allegations of abuse and neglect in the elder adult community.

What you will do:

• Promote the independent functioning of members and provide services in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment
• Conduct investigations and evaluate the functional capacity, situation and resources of the elder
• Develop and implement appropriate protective services plan to alleviate risk and abuse
• Determine whether a petition to the court for a Protective Order exists and refer situations involving serious abuse to the appropriate District Attorney
• Provide emergency PS department coverage during non-business hours

What you will bring:

• Your passion for helping others and desire to make a difference
• Adaptability to be able to change as the needs of consumers and/or programs change
• At least two years of experience in the human services field preferably with the elder adult population and/or crisis intervention
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field highly preferred; Current licensure if appropriate
• Bilingual preferred
