Job summary

AES Corporation in Dayton, Ohio is hiring for a Relay Engineer (all levels) to design and implement protective relaying for AES Ohio's transmission and distribution system. You will perform relay setting calculations, coordination studies, short-circuit analyses, and help maintain protection models and databases.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited), familiarity with power systems, PLCs, and is pursuing the FE exam.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Experience with protective relaying and relay settings.
• Familiarity with power systems short circuit/impedance calculations.
• Knowledge of digital logic and PLCs.
• Pursuing the FE exam for PE licensure.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay setting calculations, coordination studies, and short circuit studies.
• Maintain short circuit models and protection engineering databases.
• Support NERC compliance program and system events investigations.
• Assist field technicians during commissioning and restoration activities.
• Respond to outages and aid in storm restoration efforts.
