Job summary

AEP in Kingsport, TN seeks a P&C Technician to install, test, operate and maintain protection and control devices and related equipment across stations and SCADA networks. You will handle relays, SDR/DFR, PLCs, telemetering, and associated communications gear, with responsiveness to outages and emergencies.

The successful candidate must live within 45 minutes of the Kingsport Service Center. The role offers four 10-hour shifts (Mon–Thu) and opportunities for advancement across multiple grade

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience in electrical engineering technology.
• Equivalent education/experience may include military technical training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in acceptance and installation tests on protection, control and measurement devices.
• Assist in installing and operating power line carriers, SCADA and related comms equipment.
• Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel.
• Assist in installing and maintaining new equipment or systems as assigned.
• Maintain test and automotive equipment to enable safe, efficient work across the system.
• Prepare accurate records, reports and drawings as required.
