Job summary

Volta Services, LLC is seeking a Protection and Control Technician to deliver high-quality testing and verification for utility-scale power systems. This role supports protection and control maintenance, upgrades, and new installations across the full project lifecycle—from design validation through system energization.

You will perform protective relay testing, calibration, and settings verification; read electrical drawings; troubleshoot issues; and ensure compliance with design intent,

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in electrical technology or military electrical program, with 1–3 years field experience.
• Knowledge of electrical power systems, protection, and control concepts.
• Experience with relay testing (electro-mechanical and microprocessor relays).
• Ability to read electrical drawings, AC/DC schematics, and protection schemes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and technical abilities.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and human performance.
• Ability to travel within defined footprint.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Osha 30 NFPA 70E

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical testing to verify installation and system integration.
• Ensure compliance with design intent, project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Support system energization and turnover to operations.
• Perform protective relay testing, calibration, and settings verification.
• Identify and resolve misconfigurations prior to energization.
• Provide technical recommendations to improve system safety and reliability.
• Diagnose protection misoperations and control system issues.
• Test metering systems including revenue-grade meters and power quality meters.
• Review electrical designs and system settings.
• Assist with system reliability and fault prevention.
