Job summary

Georgia Power Company is seeking a Protection & Control Field Services Engineer/Technician in the Metro East area. The role covers commissioning, testing, and maintaining protective relaying and controls for substations and transmission lines.

Hybrid of field and office work with safety and customer service a priority. Qualifications include a 4-year engineering degree or equivalent experience, P&C knowledge, and ability to respond to outages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or technical degree with electrical emphasis or PE license.
• Experience with protection, control, and communication equipment.
• Strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems and fault analysis.
• Ability to learn switching procedures and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Commission, test, maintain, and troubleshoot protective relaying and controls.
• Ensure tasks are completed without service interruptions and meet schedule targets.
• Coordinate activities with multiple internal/external stakeholders.
• Serve as first responder to investigate power interruptions and alarms.
• Develop safe work practices and conduct risk-reducing job briefings.
• Isolate hazards and damaged equipment during emergencies to restore service.
