Job summary
Southern Company is hiring for a Protection & Control Field Services Engineer/Technician based in the Metro East Transmission Maintenance Center. The role covers P&C field services in the Northern Transmission Maintenance Area, focusing on safety, quality, switching procedures, and project execution with minimal service interruptions.
Education requirements include a 4-year engineering degree or equivalent experience, PE license, or related technical degrees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Engineering technology degree or PE license acceptable.
- 2-year technical degree in electrical maintenance or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Commission and troubleshoot protective relaying, controls, and communication equipment.
- Coordinate tasks with internal and external stakeholders to meet safety, quality, and schedule goals.
- Investigate power interruptions and respond to alarms as first responder.
- Follow safe work practices and conduct job briefings to mitigate risks.
- Support outage responses including traveling as required.
