This is a 12-month project working full time, on site in White Plains NY
The Protection and Control Engineer will develop design solutions for protection and control and associated communication systems, perform system disturbance analysis and recommend protective relaying system modifications and/or additions. This role will assure adherence to applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards to maintain and operate assets. This role will support the current qualified resource gap in protection and control engineering.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
• Perform engineering design for the protection and control and associated communication systems • Perform system disturbance analysis and recommend protective relaying system modification and/or additions, if required. • Perform short circuit studies and other calculations as required to establish relay settings • Perform NERC / NPCC compliance related tasks • Provide site support during project commissioning or disturbance investigation.
Skills
• Proficient in the engineering and design of Protection and Control systems specific to the electric utility industry. • Working knowledge of protective relaying systems and their various components. • Familiarity with developing relay settings and understanding of calculations • Familiarity with programming microprocessor-based protective relays • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree, from an accredited college or university.
