Job description

We are seeking a Prosthetic Technician to fabricate prosthetics for upper and lower extremities in Madison Heights and Rochester Hills, MI.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Facilitate the fabrication, modification, maintenance and repair of prosthetic devices and components. Make adjustments as needed.
  2. Determine the best material and tools to use to build the prosthetic limb or medical appliance.
  3. Complete assigned work for delivery per company standard times, policies and responsive to the needs of the patient.
  4. Demonstrate competence and expertise in fabrication techniques that result in a high level of productivity.
  5. Promote a positive work environment through compliance with customer relation policies and standards.
  6. Participate in continuing education to be proficient in fabricating techniques and material properties.
  7. Identify and create improvements to processes to promote efficiency and productivity.
  8. Maintain cleanliness and neat orderly workspaces and common areas used during work or breaks.
  9. Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  10. Treat Protected Health Information (PHI) with the strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards and DJO policies and procedures.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
  1. Experience working with hand and power tools including the care and maintenance of equipment.
  2. Learn and maintain knowledge of orthotic/prosthetic design, fitting criteria, measurement tools and techniques including modification procedures, material science and planes of motion.
  3. Basic understanding of computer programs such as MS Office and databases.
  4. Professionalism in conduct, appearance, and communication.
  5. Skilled in communicating with patients and employees effectively both verbally and in writing.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively and participate with a team approach.
  7. Self-motivated and detail oriented.
  8. High School Diploma or GED required.
  9. Experience and proficiency in general fabrication procedures of prosthetic devices, which include working with thermal plastic, lamination, resin, metal, leather, plaster, and prosthetic/orthotic components preferred. Some level of on-the-job training is anticipated.
  10. Background check including drug screen required.
