Job summary

Rocky Mountain Institute seeks a Development Lead – Prospect Research and New Business Development to advance prospect discovery across individuals, foundations, corporate philanthropy, and public sector funding. You will manage pipelines, deliver actionable intelligence, and support data‑driven fundraising decisions.

You will partner with Relationship Managers and program teams, ensure high data quality in Salesforce, and apply APRA‑informed standards and ethical research practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 5 years in prospect research or related nonprofit function.
• Experience with prospect research tools (Salesforce, DonorSearch, WealthX) and privacy‑aware practices.
• APRA-informed standards and ethical research practices; ability to manage sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Lead prospect research and development work across revenue streams, maintaining centralized pipelines.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend U.S. and global prospects with clear capacity and strategic fit.
• Own cross‑vertical new business development, including research delivery, reports, and next steps.
• Manage pipeline tracking, accountability, and action follow‑ups with partners and leaders.
• Improve data quality in Salesforce and related data warehouses; implement automation where appropriate.
• Train colleagues on tools, data practices, and effective partnership with Development.
