Job summary

Texas State University is seeking a Prospect Development Associate to support identifying and researching potential philanthropic supporters. The role emphasizes wealth research and assisting frontline fundraisers in portfolio management and donor engagement.

The position involves maintaining constituent records, leading targeted research projects, and recommending process improvements while upholding APRA standards.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to collaborate closely within a team while managing independent projects.
• High level of computer literacy with experience in online research.
• Experience with data entry, data analysis, databases, or working with data sets.
• Experience in training, teaching, advising, or similar service-oriented role.
• Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
• Experience presenting findings clearly both verbally and in writing; highly organized and deadline-driven.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and other Office components.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and recommend potential philanthropic supporters and provide input on fundraising strategy.
• Lead proactive wealth screenings for the team.
• Provide research and analysis of biographical, philanthropic, professional, and financial data in written bios, summaries, event bios, and prospect lists.
• Track prospects and donors via daily news, alerts, and internal information.
• Identify acquaintances through relationship mapping to facilitate institutional involvement.
• Lead specific prospect research projects with supervisor guidance.
• Supervise and delegate work to student workers as needed.
• Assist with donor database maintenance, data entry and audits.
• Meet with development staff to support activities and develop recommendations to meet goals.
• Assist in evaluating new resources and vendor services.
• Assist in analyzing best practices for donor giving and process improvements.
• Uphold APRA standards.
