This employee provides highly customized and strategic information that helps build relationships with donors and increase giving. Contributes to executing a comprehensive program of prospect identification; provides high-level background research and strategy recommendations, financial and demographic analysis, and capacity evaluations; and executes a wide range of development research activities to support fundraising initiatives. Traits we are seeking include inquisitiveness, curiosity, and intelligence.

The focus of the role is on finding new donors while simultaneously understanding the potential of our existing ones. You must be a good researcher and have a certain savvy with understanding databases. Our development office uses a software program called Affinaquest (a Salesforce platform), so any experience with Salesforce will be an asset. Development experience is not necessary, but it does help you understand the environment and the department’s mission.

In addition to skills in data and database mining, any candidate will need to be a good communicator. You will be tasked with building relationships with others in the University, and also need to quickly gain trust and buy-in from those around you. Good writing skills are a must! It will also help to be an Excel guru, as the department works extensively with analytical spreadsheets and reports.

This is a full-time role that is classified as salaried and exempt. All benefits are included for this position, including outstanding healthcare options and a pension plan run by the State of Texas. This job works a normal business week and traditional hours. For the initial six months of training, you will work in our University Center Tower location at Fannin and Pressler. As you become more proficient, there will be more opportunities to work at least part of the week remotely.

APPLICANTS must either reside in the State of Texas or plan on relocating within ninety days of accepting an offer. This is a hybrid position that requires in-person training and in-person office days.
