General Dynamics – Bath Iron Works is seeking a Front-Line Supervisor, Operating Crew to lead the Outside Machinist team on first and second shifts, ensuring safe testing and activation of propulsion and auxiliary systems. The role directs test mechanics and coordinates with pipe, machinery, electrical trades to meet milestones.

The position emphasizes safety leadership, quality oversight, and continuous improvement under BIW’s BOS framework, with a focus on mentoring mechanics and documenting

Qualifications

• Naval or maritime ship engineering plant operating experience.
• Ability and desire to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Champion BIW safety culture and enforce all safety standards and procedures across operations.
• Lead execution of Operating Crew flushing and test activities to support ship schedules.
• Monitor the quality of work performed; ensure first-time quality through proper oversight and training.
• Coordinate with Area management to align resources with operational needs.
• Track the status of Preventive Maintenance workloads and complete work orders to reduce downtime.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor mechanics.
