Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Engineer to support propulsion development at DEVCOM Armaments Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. You will research, design, and develop new products and processes, perform trade studies, prototype development, and test analyses while collaborating with diverse teams.

Requires a BS/MS in engineering, 10+ years of experience, and ability to lead IPT-driven work, conduct DOEs, modeling/simulation, and manage risks.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in engineering; mechanical or chemical preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Development of prototypes; knowledge of engineering processes and experience in multiple phases.
• Ability to define and lead engineering tasks within a team.
• Work in an IPT environment with defined roles and responsibilities.
• Organize project plans, schedules, and track actions/resources.
• Define and execute DOEs; model/simulate; work with SMEs; subscale/full-scale testing.
• Conduct engineering analyses with SMEs.
• Identify and manage program risks; develop mitigation plans.
• Understand engineering management: performance, cost, schedule.
• Understand agile product development and adapt to change.
• Understand engineering workflow and process maps.
• Familiar with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Strong written and oral communications.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop new products and processes using engineering principles.
• Analyze test data; prepare test reports and recommendations.
• Perform trade studies and develop detailed specifications; prototype development.
• Provide action recommendations considering multiple viable options.
• Evaluate diverse factors and ensure feasibility and objectives alignment.
• Apply statistical methods and simulations to assess production challenges.
• Collaborate with installation/plant officials, contractors, architects, technicians, and engineers.
• Document and report technical information to senior engineers.
• Travel to project sites up to ~50% of the time; work around equipment.
