Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Project Engineering in Huntsville, AL to lead propulsion program tasks and coordinate design/analysis efforts under program management guidance. The role requires interfacing with management, customers, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.

Responsibilities include providing technical guidance, supporting post-test analyses and reporting, and contributing to product team discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Project Engineering experience.
• Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior Project Engineering experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Project Engineering experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of pertinent codes, rules, and regulations related to areas of engineering assignments.
• Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications.
• Systems engineering principles in Requirements and Risk & Opportunity management.
• Principles of budget and schedule management for assigned project scope, such as Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Industry standards and practices.
• Understanding of rocket propulsion components and theory of operation.
• Understanding and/or leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.

Responsibilities

• Determines approaches to objectives demonstrating understanding of principles and practices.
• Coordinate propulsion program tasks, manage technical progress, risk, schedule, and cost as needed.
• Monitor progress and interface with Program Management, customers, and other organizations to resolve issues.
• Provide technical consultation for business development activities and technical briefings to customers.
• Provide inputs to status reports and lead product team meetings.
• Conceive and plan projects involving development of new methods to attain objectives.
• Provide direction in problem investigations across functional areas.
• Stay current in relevant technologies to support projects.
• May provide technical guidance to less senior staff.
• May be assigned CAM duties.
