Job summary

Ursa Major seeks a Product Quality Engineering Lead to own and scale quality processes for propulsion and defense systems. You will lead a team, drive inspections, root cause analysis, and calibration of QMS across engineering, manufacturing, and test functions.

The role requires strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with the authority to rewrite the playbook for quality improvements and compliance in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years in product quality or similar role in aerospace/defense environment.
• Experience building or overhauling product/manufacturing quality systems.
• Working knowledge of AS9100D and proof of compliance.
• Strong grasp of inspection planning, FAI, nonconformance, root cause, and corrective action.
• Expert GD&T, drawings, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Product Quality Engineers.
• Set priorities and balance workload with stakeholder alignment.
• Own quality metrics and reporting cadence across the organization.
• Design and improve end-to-end Quality Management System processes.
• Lead investigations, test failures, and critical build/test activities.
• Support MRB, CAPA, and corrective actions for product issues.
• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, and Engineering on quality controls.
• Travel up to 10% domestically as needed.
