Job summary

K2 Space is seeking a mechanical design engineer to lead propulsion system hardware for the world's highest-powered electric propulsion. You will own design, development, build, test, and analysis across the satellite's plasma propulsion system.

In a small multidisciplinary team, you will define requirements, create concepts, run analyses, and plan development tests. You will advance hardware toward flight qualification and support production and integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering field.
• 3+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design and analysis experience.
• Experience with CAD or FEA software packages.
• Experience with GD&T and practical mechanical design principles.
• Ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of propulsion system hardware and components.
• Validate designs through concept to production and flight demos.
• Generate 3D models, drawings, and interface control documents.
• Analyze test data, iterate designs, and make go/no-go decisions.
• Develop and execute component and system-level test plans.
• Manage propulsion vendors and schedule delivery.
