Job summary

K2 Space Corporation is developing the highest-power satellite propulsion system and accompanying hardware. You will own mechanical design, develop and test components, and guide hardware from concept to flight, collaborating with a small multidisciplinary team to ensure robust spaceflight readiness.

In this role you will define requirements, create concepts, run analyses, and lead test campaigns to qualify flight hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of mechanical/ME design and analysis experience.
  • Experience with CAD or FEA software packages.
  • Knowledge of GD&T applications.
  • Ability to design, build, and test hardware from concept to flight-readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of propulsion system hardware including propulsion modules, thruster components, propellant management, avionics box design, secondary structures, and tank development.
  • Validate designs through lifecycle from concept to production and flight demonstrations.
  • Create 3D models, fully dimensioned drawings, and interface control documents.
  • Analyze test data, iterate designs, and make go/no-go decisions on hardware performance.
  • Develop and execute component and system-level test plans.
  • Manage propulsion vendors and suppliers through hardware delivery.
  • Maintain sub-system deliverable schedules throughout development and production.
