Job summary

K2 Space Corporation seeks a senior mechanical engineer to own propulsion system hardware design for the highest-power electric propulsion platform. You will lead mechanical design, development, build, test, and analysis across spaceflight hardware in a multidisciplinary team.

The role spans concept through flight qualification and requires hands-on hardware work and quick iteration. In Los Angeles, you will define requirements, create concepts, run analyses, and guide testing campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering field.
• 10+ years of mechanical/ME design and analysis experience.
• Experience with CAD or FEA software packages.
• Proven ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.]
• Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical design, materials, thermodynamics, and fluids.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of propulsion system hardware including modules and components.
• Validate designs through lifecycle from concept to production and flight demonstrations.
• Create 3D models, fully dimensioned drawings, and interface control documents.
• Analyze testing data, iterate designs, and make go/no-go decisions on performance.
• Develop and execute component and system-level test plans.
• Manage propulsion vendors and suppliers through hardware delivery.
• Refine sub-system deliverables schedules through development and production.
