Job summary

General Motors is seeking a GPS ME Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team in Warren, MI. You will work on propulsion system manufacturing projects, from electric motors to battery systems, within active programs and real deadlines.

You will support process development, equipment qualification, and lean initiatives, while collaborating with Product Engineering, Quality, and Plant Operations to deliver tangible results.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related field.
• Able to analyze data and draw conclusions from tests, data, and observations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing process development for propulsion components (motors, drive units, transmissions, battery systems) in lab or plant.
• Assist with equipment launch activities: installation, debugging, qualification, documentation to meet launch metrics.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve throughput and standardize work; develop 3D process layouts or CAD/CAM work instructions.
