Job summary

Hermeus is offering a 16-week Propulsion Component Engineering Intern role in Los Angeles, focusing on valves, actuators, and propulsion hardware. You will join cross-functional teams to move hardware from concept through build, test, and production in high-pressure, high-temperature flight environments.

The internship emphasizes rapid build–test–iterate cycles, system-level sizing, and design trades, with exposure to NX, ANSYS, and Python/MATLAB tooling.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a STEM program (undergrad 3rd/4th year or grad).
• Strong interest in propulsion and hardware development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Experience with CAD/analysis tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support development of propulsion components from concept to flight-ready delivery.
• Contribute to designs for high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
• Assist with clean-sheet design, analysis, and integration of propulsion components.
• Support hardware through rapid build–test–iterate cycles.
• Define requirements, interfaces, and integration strategies with system owners.
• Support development testing, qualification, and acceptance of flight hardware.
• Transition from prototype to production-ready designs.
